Sensex down 129pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now down 129 points at 8,873.

Tata Motors has slumped 5% to Rs 163. ICICI Bank has plunged 4.5% to Rs 323.

Larsen & Toubro has tumbled 4% to Rs 585. DLF has shed 3.7% at Rs 167.

BHEL, Reliance Infrastructure and Ranbaxy have dropped around 2.5% each to Rs 1,376, Rs 473 and Rs 143, respectively.

SBI has slipped over 2% to Rs 948. Maruti, Reliance Communications, Wipro and Bharti Airtel have declined nearly 2% each to Rs 717, Rs 154, Rs 229 and Rs 562, respectively.

Reliance, Jaiprakash Associates and TCS are down around 1.5% each at Rs 1,325, Rs 79 and Rs 508, respectively.

 

Hindalco has surged nearly 3% to Rs 46. Tata Power has advanced over 1% to Rs 671.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,345 stocks traded so far, 1,242 have declined, 997 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
