Sensex down 328pts; Hindalco slumps 15%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 237 points at 9,535. The index is now down 328 points at 9,444.

Hindalco has slumped over 15% to Rs 45. Sterlite has plunged over 9% to Rs 223.

Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel have tumbled over 7% each to Rs 181 and Rs 573, respectively. Tata Steel has shed 6.5% at Rs 195.

HDFC Bank has slipped over 6% to Rs 1,005. HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra and SBI have dropped around 5% each to Rs 1,670, Rs 326 and Rs 1,261, respectively.

Maruti has declined 4.5% to Rs 565. DLF, ONGC and NTPC are down around 4% each to Rs 257, Rs 745 and Rs 137, respectively.
