Sensex extends gains, up 150pts

The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 150 points at 8,907.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Jaiprakash Associates have soared over 7.5% each to Rs 370 and Rs 76, respectively.

Reliance Communications has surged over 5% to Rs 154. Tata Motors has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 168.

DLF and Ranbaxy have moved up over 3.5% each to Rs 158 and Rs 144, respectively.

SBI and ICICI Bank have gained 3.3% each at Rs 985 and Rs 319, respectively. Sterlite has added 3% to Rs 292.

Reliance, Bharti Airtel and TCS are up around 2.5% each at Rs 1,316, Rs 572 and Rs 518, respectively.

 

Sun Pharma has slipped over 2% to Rs 999. Reliance Infrastructure and Maruti are down around 1.5% each at Rs 700 and Rs 460, respectively.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,391 stocks traded so far, 1,391 have advanced, 905 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
