Sensex extends losses; ICICI Bank drops 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 39 points at 4,118.

ICICI Bank has plunged 4% to Rs 597. Jaiprakash Associates has slipped over 3% to Rs 168.

ITC, Hindalco, TCS and Reliance Infrastructure have shed around 2.5% each at Rs 179, Rs 142, Rs 855 and Rs 816, respectively.

Maruti, Wipro and Reliance have slipped 1.8% each to Rs 578, Rs 426 and Rs 2,044, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Satyam and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined 1.6% each to Rs 735, Rs 1,792, Rs 475 and Rs 526, respectively.

HDFC Bank and NTPC are down 1.5% each at Rs 1,043 and Rs 166, respectively.

 

ACC has surged 2.8% to Rs 551. Tata Steel has moved up 1.8% to Rs 690.

Ambuja Cements has advanced 1.5% to Rs 78, and DLF has added 1% to Rs 455.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,420 stocks traded so far, 1,259 have declined, 1,080 have advanced and 81 are unchanged.
