Sensex flat in early trades; tech stocks weak

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 108 points at 14,432. The index, however, has pared gains and is now flat at 14,319 - down five points.

Maruti has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 698. BHEL has gained 1.5% at Rs 1,689.

ITC, Tata Steel and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced over 1% each to Rs 194, Rs 532 and Rs 1,003, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, DLF, ONGC and Tata Power are also up 1% each at Rs 164, Rs 491, Rs 1,046 and Rs 1,022, respectively.

Infosys has plunged 3.5% to Rs 1,689. Satyam has shed 2.5% at Rs 411, and Wipro has slipped 1.6% to Rs 420.
