Sensex near day's high, up 87pts

The Sensex has gained after recoveruing from the negative zone. The index is now near its high at 13,856 - up 87 points.

Sun Pharma has surged 3.2% to Rs 1,179. Reliance Infrastructure, Sterlite and Jaiprakash Associates have gained 2.7% each.

SBI, Reliance, TCS, ITC, HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications, Tata Power, Bharti AIrtel, Tata Steel and Hero Honda have added 1-2% each.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 3% to Rs 715. Tata Motors has dropped 2.5% to Rs 274.

BHEL, ICICI Bank and Grasim have slipped around 1% each.

The market breadth is marginally negative. Out of 2,389 stocks traded, 1,300 have declined while 1,011 have advanced.
