Sensex slip into red in opening trades

The Sensex opened with a marginal positive gap of 20 points at 16,906. The index, however, slipped immediately to the negative zone and touched a low of 16,534. The index is now down 146 points at 16,572.

The Nifty is down 47 points at 4,922.

Infosys has shed 3% to Rs 2,299. Jaiprakash Associates has slipped 2.7% to Rs 228.

DLF has dropped 2% to Rs 415. Reliance Communications, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindalco and Sterlite have moved down 1.5% each.

Tata Steel, Grasim, Reliance Infrastructure, ICICI Bank, BHEL, ACC and Reliance are down 1% each.

None of the Sensex stocks have magaed to gain considerably.
