Sensex up 160pts; Reliance up 4%

The Sensex opened 34 points higher at 8,971, and is now up 160 points at 9,097.

Grasim has surged 5% to Rs 1,025. Reliance and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied 4% each to Rs 1,188 and Rs 312, respectively.

Sterlite has gained 3.5% at Rs 225. ACC, ITC and Jaiprakash Associates have advanced over 3% each to Rs 418, Rs 166 and Rs 70, respectively.

Ranbaxy and HDFC have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 218 and Rs 1,458, respectively.

BHEL, ICICI Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have added around 2.5% each to Rs 1,300, Rs 370 and Rs 487, respectively.

 

Tata Steel, Hindalco, Larsen & Toubro and HDFC Bank are up over 2% each at Rs 168, Rs 54, Rs 781 and Rs 936, respectively.
