Sensex up 408pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 408 points at 11,717.

Satyam has zoomed 11% to Rs 299, and Wipro has soared 8% to Rs 306.

ICICI Bank has surged 7.5% to Rs 457, and Tata Power rallied 7% to Rs 846.

Jaiprakash Associates, Infosys, TCS and Reliance Infrastructure have gained 6% each at Rs 86, Rs 1,397, Rs 610 and Rs 636, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has advanced 5.5% to Rs 781. Reliance has added 5% to Rs 1,650.

Hindalco has shed 2.5% at Rs 87, and ONGC has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 899.

Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 1.5% to Rs 513. HDFC Bank and NTPC are down 1% each at Rs 1,165 and Rs 177, respectively.

 

Out of 2,591 stocks traded so far, 1,807 have advanced, 725 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
