Sensex up 60pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now up 64 points at 9,213. Earlier in the day, the index opened 77 points higher at 9,226, and thereafter touched a high of 9,338.

Jaiprakash Associates, DLF and Tata Steel have surged over 5.5% each to Rs 70, Rs 140 and Rs 180, respectively.

Sterlite has rallied over 5% to Rs 281, and Maruti has gained 3.3% at Rs 604.

Reliance Communications and ONGC have moved up 3% each to Rs 165 and Rs 669, respectively.

ACC has advanced 2.5% to Rs 531. BHEL has added 2% to Rs 1,365.

Out of 2,478 stocks traded so far, 1,200 have advanced, 1,173 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
