Sensex up nearly 200pts; Sterlite soars 8%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 129 points at 8,803, and is now up 193 points at 8,867.

Sterlite has soared over 8% to Rs 259, and Tata Steel has surged 5% to Rs 175.

Jaiprakash Associates has moved up 4.4% to Rs 64. Ranbaxy has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 195.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Infrastructure, SBI and HDFC Bank have advanced around 3.5% each to Rs 638, Rs 503, Rs 1,078 and Rs 902, respectively.

Reliance and Infosys are up over 3% each at Rs 1,190 and Rs 1,242, respectively.

ONGC and Hindustan Unilever, however, are down around 1% each at Rs 639 and Rs 245, respectively.
