Turmeric prices declined by Rs 40, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 14020 per quintal in futures trade today on sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in October declined by Rs 40, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 14,020 per quintal, with an open interest of 280 lots.

The spice for delivery in August also traded lower by Rs 8, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 14,438 per quintal, with a business turnover of 8,160 lots.

Market analysts said sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position led to a fall in turmeric prices at futures trade.
