Turmeric futures prices dropped by Rs 212 to Rs 11,790 per quintal today, after speculators booked profits at existing higher levels.
Expectations of higher output this season also put pressure on the spice's futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in December dropped by Rs 212, or 1.77 per cent, to Rs 11,790 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,375 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November lost Rs 36, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 12,836 per quintal, with a trade volume of 11,585 lots.
Market analysts said profit-booking by speculators at higher levels and hopes of higher output this season due to a favourable monsoon at producing regions, mainly pulled down turmeric futures prices here.
