Wockhardt slumps 10% on heavy volumes

A combined 610,236 shares changed hands till 1515 hours against an average less than 200,000 shares that were traded daily in past two weeks.

Wockhardt  was locked in 10% lower circuit at Rs 1,751 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on back of heavy volumes with no buyers seen n the counter.

The stock has opened at Rs 1,955 and hit a high of Rs 1,964 so far. A combined 610,236 shares already changed hands on the counter till 1515 hours against an average less than 200,000 shares that were traded daily in past two weeks. There are pending sell orders for around 1,000 shares on NSE and BSE.

The Khorakiwala family, the promoters of pharmaceutical and biotechnology firm Wockhardt, pledged about 87% stake of their holding with financial institutions.

The promoters hold 73.67% stake in the Rs 21,316 crore pharma company as on December 2012, the shareholding pattern data shows.
