Zinc down by 0.1% on subdued demand

A weak global trend also affected prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures prices today traded a shade lower at Rs 115.20 per kg as speculators trimmed positions amid low domestic demand and weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc prices for delivery in September declined by 15 paise, or 0.13%, to Rs 115.20 per kg in business turnover of 299 lots.

The metal prices for delivery in October fell by a similar margin to Rs 116.85 per kg in 21 lots.

Market analysts said besides sluggish domestic demand in the spot market, weak trend in base metals overseas on speculation that the Federal Reserve may reduce its stimulus as reports showed the US economy improved, put pressure on zinc futures prices here.
