Zinc futures traded 0.62% lower at Rs 119.95 per kg today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.
In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month contracts declined 75 paise, or 0.62%, to Rs 119.95 per kg. It clocked a business turnover of 573 lots.
Metal for delivery in October contracts eased by a similar margin to trade at Rs 120.85 per kg in nine lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc in futures trade was mostly attributed to a falling trend in copper and other base metals in global markets after weak reports on Chinese industrial production and fixed asset investment increased concerns over an economic slowdown in the world's largest consumer.
