Amid pick-up in domestic demand and firming global trend, zinc prices edged up by 0.24% to Rs 105.45 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by speculators.

At the MCX, zinc for delivery in June edged up by 25 paise, or 0.24%, to Rs 105.45 per kg in business turnover of 2,958 lots.

The July contract traded higher by 20 paise, or 0.19%, to Rs 105.90 per kg in 159 lots.

Analysts said besides pick-up in domestic demand, firming global trend mainly led to rise in zinc prices at futures market here.

Meanwhile, zinc gained 0.3% to $1,885 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
