Zinc up 0.6% on overseas cues, spot demand

Traders enlarge positions on better demand at home, firmer trends abroad

Tracking a firming trend overseas and rising domestic demand, zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.60 per cent to Rs 101.35 per kg as speculators enlarged positions.     

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May moved up by 60 paise, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 101.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 3,174 lots.     

June zinc also gained 60 paise, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 102.35per kg in a business volume of 113 lots.     

Marketmen said improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in base metals overseas, attributed rise in metal prices at futures trade.
