22 rescued and 18 missing in Varanasi boat capsize

So far 22 people have been rescued and 18 are still missing in Varanasi's Betawar district, where earlier today a boat carrying 40 passengers had capsized in the River Ganga.

Varanasi district magistrate Pranjal Yadav confirmed the report saying, "There were 40 people on the boat, 22 people have been rescued and 18 are still missing. Many of belong to Mirzapur, we are releasing the alert to avert such incidents in the future."

Rescue operations are underway.
