At least four people, including three army personnel, were killed in an attack at a polling station in Balochistan's Kech district, the Pakistan Army's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ISPR said that the incident occurred on Tuesday night, when the four people, part of an election staff were doing their electoral and security duties in NA-271 Buleda seat, ARY news reported.
In the attack, ten people were also injured and were rushed to a hospital in Karachi.
It is to be noted that Kech district is situated close to the Pakistan-Iran border, which was closed during the general elections.
Voting began at 8 am (local time), during which most of Pakistan's nearly 106 million people came out to cast their votes. It ended at 6 pm.
Earlier today morning, 31 people were killed in a suicide blast outside a polling station near Eastern Bypass in Balochistan's Quetta.
Prior to the election, 149 people were killed when an explosion targetted a political rally in Mastung in Balochistan, which also claimed the life of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Siraj Raisani.
On a related note, voting began at 8 am (local time), during which most of Pakistan's nearly 106 million people came out to cast their votes. It ended at 6 pm.
Voting was marred by reports of electoral violence and clashes, which led to casualties. In some places, voting had to be temporarily halted.
In the 2013 elections, the PML-N, led by former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, emerged as the largest party with 166 seats out of a total of 342 seats in the National Assembly.
Although the seats were short of a majority, Sharif was able to form a government after several independents joined his party.
