All India Institute of Medical Sciences director Dr. M. C. Mishra has filed an affidavit before the Delhi High Court, seeking to relieve head of the forensics department, Dr. Sudhir Gupta, from his post.
"AIIMS director Dr. M. C. Mishra has filed an affidavit to appoint some other faculty in place of me as head of department. What I don't think is right is that it has the approval of the AIIMS secretary and president, that is Union Health Minister J P Nadda. So, they have to clarify what is their stand, because they are also party in the high court," Dr. Gupta told ANI.
"Dr. Mishra has never written to me, saying that he wants to relieve me from the post of HoD. As per the CCS rules, he has to clarify that. Once the post is vacated, then anyone can be appointed," he added.
Dr. Gupta had earlier been at the centre of controversy after he had claimed that the then-UPA Government at the Centre had pressured him into manipulating the post mortem report on former union minister Shashi Tharoor's wife, Sunanda Pushkar.
