Azadi March: Lahore HC summons Imran Khan, seeks response from state, central government

After resuming the hearing over the petition filed against Imran Khan's Azadi March, the Lahore High Court has reportedly summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief and has sought responses from the federal and Punjab governments over the steps taken by it with regard to the mass protest called by PTI on August 14.
A bench comprising Justice Shahid Hameed and Justice Anwarul Haq and led by Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan made the statement on Monday, reported the Dawn.
The petitioner's counsel, Advocate AK Dogar, told the high court that a failure at stopping the march will mean a failure in delivering justice.
However, the bench responded by saying that staging protest was a basic right enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan and therefore, the court cannot stop anyone from exercising it.
