Bell says England 'overlooked' faults 'evident' in team during summer Ashes

England cricketer Ian Bell has said that his team's faults had been evident in the first Ashes series against Australia but just like the Emperor's new clothes, no one wanted to know about the side's weaknesses until it was too late.

According to the Guardian, Bell was one of only two England players to average 40 or more during the summer.

Bell said that England were in a similar embarrassing situation against New Zealand in March, where they drew three Tests against a team that sat above only Bangladesh in the Test rankings.

Bell also quoted Emily Bronte in the fact that proud people breed sad sorrows for themselves, adding that who would have believed that England thinking they were too good would ever have proved a problem for them.
