The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh after he took on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, saying insecurity, hunger and corruption connote in one word, which is the ruling party at the Centre.

"These 3 things insecurity, hunger and corruption connote in 1word 'Congress', why use 3 when 1word is enough?" said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, while replying to Digvijay Singh's criticism of Modi.

Digvijay Singh earlier in the day lashed out at Modi, and said the BJP's poll panel chief's slogan for a 'Congress-free India' is 'fascist'.

"BJP earlier slogan BHAY BHOOK BRASHTACHAR MUKT BHARAT/ MODI'S SLOGAN - CONGRESS MUKT BHARAT," Singh tweeted.

"Now in Modi's BJP BHAY BHOOK BRASHTACHAR MUKT BHARAT is no longer an issue. Would the BJP Think Tank or the Spokespersons pl respond?" he said.

"Isn't Modi's and now BJP's slogan of CONGRESS MUKT BHARAT , FASCIST? Would all other non BJP Non Communal Political Parties pl respond? (sic)," Singh further tweeted.
