The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the by-election for Panaji Assembly constituency by over 5000 votes today.
Siddharth Kunkaleinkar of the BJP defeated Congress rival Surendra Furtado.
The seat had fallen vacant after former chief minister Manohar Parrikar joined the Union Cabinet as defence minister.
Kunkaleinkar received 9989 votes while Furtado got 4621 votes.
