A high-level composite Task Force, which was formed by the West Bengal Government to investigate the recent blast at Khagragarh in Burdwan district, has arrested one of the accused named Abul Hakim.

West Bengal Home Secretary Basudev Banerjee said in Kolkata last night that Director General of Police (DGP) G.M. P. Reddy will lead the task force and coordinate with various investigating agencies like the CID, Kolkata Police and others, during the probe.

Banerjee said the state government is also in touch with the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on the matter.

He rejected the view that Al-Qaeda could have had a hand in the blast.

Meanwhile, a local court has remanded two women arrested in connection with the blast to police custody till October 9.

The opposition, including the Left Front and the BJP, have criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government for its alleged failure in maintaining the law and order situation.
