The Election Commission on Wednesday asked the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission to issue a stern warning to YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for his comments on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during election campaign for the Nandyal by-poll.

The case has been registered against Reddy under Sections 188, 504, 506 and under Public Representation Act 125 for violating the Model Code of Conduct.

Yesterday, the Election Commission had asked the Chief Electoral Officer of the state poll body to take immediate action against Reddy and suggested that an FIR may also be filed against him.

"Using abusive and provocative language, which has the effect of inciting violence during election speech, amounts to violation of model code of conduct," the EC said in astatement.

During the campaign for Nandyal bypoll on August 3, Jagan had said, "There is nothing wrong if Chandrababu Naidu is shot dead on the road for not fulfilling election promises".
