Governor of Chhattisgarh Shekhar Dutt stepped down from his office on Wednesday.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Governor B. L Joshi, Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj and Assam Governor JB Patnaik also gave their resignations on Tuesday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy had said on Tuesday that all the Governors, who were appointed by the previous UPA government, should resign.
However, the Congress Party had termed the move to replace six UPA-appointed governors as politically motivated.
Congress leader Shobha Ojha had said, "Governors and all commissions have a fixed tenure, and I believe that all governments must allow them to complete their tenure.
