Australian captain Michael Clarke has praised controversial batsman David Warner for his positive input during the domestic Sheffield Shield tournament, saying he believes that more first-class runs would follow for Warner.

Warner is a likely starter in the first Test of the winter Ashes series in Brisbane, along with Chris Rogers, Ed Cowan, Phillip Hughes and Aaron Finch

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Clarke said the dynamic left-hander was doing everything else right despite him scoring 21 and 15 during his side New South Wales' loss to Tasmania, adding that he hoped that Warner can make a few more runs in the next match against Victoria.

Meanwhile, Clarke said that there was genuine competition for top-six spots on the batting order during the winter Ashes, adding that he is 'extremely' confident of taking his place in the next game.
