Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen has won the battle against the firm that wanted to build 15 homes near her mansion in Prestbury and damage the character of the village.
A source said that the duo has lived in the village for a good many years, and so the 28-year-old TV presenter had every right to protest about this application and she was supported by many villagers, the Mirror reported.
The insider added that it is a victory for her and also for common sense from the planning committee.
According to the Manchester United captain's wife, the development would have meant more car journeys in to the village that is already congested and unsuitable for the increased traffic, which would have damaged the special landscape character and appearance of the area.
The application, by Harvey Wood Investments Ltd, received more than 60 letters of objection from residents.
