Paralympic medallist Deepa Malik on Wednesday said that the ongoing Commonwealth Games is more athlete-centric than its previous editions.

Thanking the sports federations and other authorities in India for creating a positive environment in the country which anchored India to a tally of 24 medals at the Gold Coast Games, Malik said, "The execution of government schemes in sports is clearly visible in the performance of the players."

India has so far bagged a total of 24 medals, including 12 gold, four silver and eight bronze.

"I would like to thank all the federations and sports authorities and the Ministry of Sports for creating this positive environment where the CWG has become athlete-centric," Malik told ANI.

Meanwhile, Malik also hailed India's historic table tennis gold medal in women team event, gold medal in the badminton mixed team event and bronze medal won by para-powerlifter Sachin Chaudhary.

"I am proud to see a para-weightlifter winning at the CWG. India has a quite small squad in para-sports but seeing them win medals at the Games makes me immensely proud," Malik said.

"There has been a huge change in the sports culture since 2010. I was part of the 2010 CWG and have witnessed the change myself," she concluded.
