A 67-year-old American woman was found dead inside her hotel room here in suspicious circumstances.
According to sources, the victim, whose body was bruised and swollen, was staying in the hotel for about a week but had not come out of her room for the past three-four days.
Meanwhile, the police have put her belongings in safe custody and intimated the US embassy.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the matter is being investigated.
"We have sent her body from Dharamshala to Tanda medical college Kangra for postmortem. The reasons of the death are still unknown and the things will be cleared after her postmortem. Nobody saw her coming out of her room for the last three to four days. It appears that she had died three to four days before. Statements of the hotel staff have been recorded and we have intimated the embassy," said Rajender Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), McLeod Ganj.
