Canada's Minister of International Trade, Ed Fast, met with the Indian students studying at British Columbia's University of Fraser Valley (UFV) offshore campus in Chandigarh.

In 2006, the UFV partnered with Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College Chandigarh, an affiliate of Panjab University, for the delivery of a Canadian Bachelor of Business Administration program.

This four-year degree program currently has an enrolment of 105 students.

Canada's strong people-to-people ties with India are reinforced by the international education partnerships between the two countries. Today, there are more than 400 formal agreements between Indian and Canadian institutions for student and faculty exchanges. Likewise, the number of study permits issued to Indian students has nearly quadrupled between 2008 and 2013.

India is a priority market under Canada's Global Markets Action Plan (GMAP). India is also a priority market under Canada's International Education Strategy (IES) and is the second-largest source of foreign students studying in Canada.

The Canada's Minister of International Trade is leading a six-day, three-city trade mission to India. This is his third trade mission to India in support of the Government of Canada's ambitious pro-trade plan.
