Ex-England manager Steve McClaren named Newcastle's head coach

Former England manager Steve McClaren has been named as the new head coach of Premier League side Newcastle United.
McClaren, who signed a three-year deal with the club, said that he is determined to give the supporters a team they could be proud of, the BBC has reported.
The 54-year-old succeeded John Carver, who was sacked on Tuesday following a below-par performance last season.
McClaren assumed charge of England from 2006 to 2007 and also had spells in charge of Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, German side Wolfsburg and Dutch club Twente.
