UK fighter jets have started taking flight for the very first time with parts made using 3D printing technology.

The British manufacturer BAE Systems said that the Tornado aircraft was equipped with a 3D-printed protective cover for the cockpit radio, a protective guard in the landing gar ande support struts on the air intake door,

Sky News reports.

The firm officials said that their engineers were using 3D technology to design and produce parts, which could cut the Royal Air Force's maintenance and service bill by more than 1.2 million pounds over the next four years as some of the parts costs less than 100 pounds.
