Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda was granted interim bail by a court here on Thursday.
Kanda, who is in jail for abetting the suicide of former employee Geetika Sharma, has been granted bail for a month till October 4 to attend Haryana state Assembly session, which starts tomorrow.
Additional Sessions Judge M C Gupta granted relief to Kanda considering special circumstances that he has to attend the Assembly session and has to look after the development of his constituency Sirsa.
The court directed Kanda to furnish a personal bond of five lakh rupees and two sureties of the like amount. It also imposed several conditions on him including that he will not leave the country and will not flee from justice.
Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, a air hostess was found dead on August 5 at her Ashok Vihar residence in Delhi and in one of her suicide notes, she had alleged Kanda and his another colleague and co-accused in the case, Aruna Chaddha, of harassing her.
