World football governing body FIFA has reportedly confirmed the official goal-line technology (GLT) provider for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
According to the Daily Express, the German-based GoalControl GmbH will provide the GLT in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
However, a report had said that football might regret the day the goal-line technology (GLT) was introduced as a 'monster unleashed on the game' and go down a nightmare path in the same way as cricket has been scarred by the Decision Review System (DRS).
The issue of GLT in football may also be a problem, especially the relatively rare cases where it is unclear whether or not the ball has crossed the line, and the report added that soon the GLT will be called to assist with offside decisions as well as handballs and tackles in the penalty box.
