Hearing a petition of Greenpeace India, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday permitted the NGO to use its two domestic accounts to receive fresh domestic donations.
The court pulled up banks for not following its earlier direction to allow Greenpeace to access its accounts.
Meanwhile, it allowed Greenpeace to liquidate its fixed deposits, details of which the latter had furnished.
The Home Ministry had filed its affidavit in the case before the court yesterday.
The affidavit said that during the statutory inspection conducted by the authorities, four additional utilization accounts were found and in all these four utilization accounts, the foreign contribution was
being diverted and was getting merged with the domestic contributions.
The Home Ministry had suspended the official registration of Greenpeace India for six months and frozen seven bank accounts connected with the organisation.
