Highlights of Railway Budget (Part-4)

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu presented the Railway Budget for fiscal 2015-16. The highlights are as follows

. Railways to monetize its assets rather than selling them.

. Railways to set up an environment directive in Railway Board.

. Railways to launch a mission for water conservation, expansion of water harvesting systems will continue.

. Railways has begun digitized mapping of railway land to counter encroachment.

. Railways to launch a coastal connectivity programme this year.

. Railways sets aside Rs.2000 crores for Coastal Connectivity Program; Rs.2500 crores through BOT/Annuity route. 1000 MW Solar plant; 100DEMUs to dual fuel.

. Railways working on solutions to address menace of corruption.
