Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday termed the rift between the incumbent Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung as 'tragic', asserting that the latter has certain powers which can only be practised by him.

"I think it is very tragic and sad. It will impact the governance of Delhi. It will be a big setback for Delhi. We should remember that Delhi is a Union Territory. Lieutenant Governor has some powers which are only under him and not the Chief Minister. Every file which the cabinet or the Chief Minister clears normally goes to the Lieutenant Governor," Dikshit told ANI.

Dikshit further said that if there is any misunderstanding between the Chief Minister and the Governor, it can be sorted out by meeting each other.

Earlier on Friday, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung appointed Gamlin as Delhi Chief Secretary, despite strong opposition to her nomination by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
