Pakistani schoolgirl and education activist Malala Yousafzai has received more acclaim and adoration at the Glamour Women of the Year awards than any other model, actor, philanthropists, and other prominent women present at the event.

A group of young girls at the event in Carnegie Hall screamed "We love you, Malala!", the New York Post reports.

Malala accepted the Women of the Year Fund Honoree Award at the event, the report addeed.

The 16-year old said she believed a gun has no power at all, because it can only kill, but a pen can give life.

Malala rose to fame after a Taliban gunman shot her in the head in October 2012 for criticizing the group's interpretation of Islam, which limits girls' access to education.

She has since been working to support education for girls, started "The Malala Fund", and recently released a memoir, "I Am Malala" to inspire the world with her thoughts.

Lady Gaga said she wished this month's Glamour magazine cover, which features her, had been devoted to Malala instead.
