Messi is now Barcelona's most successful player

Star-striker Lionel Messi has become the most successful player for Barcelona after winning the record 33rd title with the club.

The 31-year-old achieved the feat after he led the club to a 2-1 victory over Spanish football club Sevilla in the final of the Supercopa de Espana Cup.

Announcing the same, Barcelona posted a video of Messi on its official Twitter handle.

"Leo #Messi is crowned the player with the most titles in the history of Barça

#SupercopaBarça," they wrote.

The club congratulated the player with another post on the micro-blogging site.

"Leo #Messi," they tweeted.

Earlier, the record was with former Barcelona captain Andre Iniesta who had won 32 titles with the club.
