Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Saturday said that his party will soon announce Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate.

"We believe that in some time honorable Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will definitely be announced as the Prime Ministerial candidate," Rudy said.

Modi was announced as the Chairman of the Campaign Committee after the BJP met in Goa in June this year.

The Goa meeting triggered a lot of controversy after long-time BJP ally Janata Dal (United) walked out of the NDA, following the announcement.

Even though there seems to have been some turbulence within the BJP about its Prime Ministerial candidate, Party President Rajnath Singh had earlier confirmed that there is an internal consensus on the candidate.

Moreover, BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani, who had earlier voiced his concerns following Modi's elevation, was brought on board after the RSS intervened.
