Former MP from Mumbai North, Sanjay Nirupam said on Saturday that "had Narendra Modi been a Congress candidate he would have lost in the Lok Sabha elections."
Talking about Congress' defeat he added that "apart from inflation and corruption there were many reasons such as pending bills or delay in work due to which the people of India had already made up their mind as to not let Congress win this time."
But at the same time he also said that "things would improve in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and this hatred for Congress party will not remain forever."
The Congress party suffered its worst set back in the recently concluded general elections, where it could only win 44 seats.
