Naidu intensifies pressure on Oppn parties to take on BJP

N Chandrababu on Thursday intensified pressure on political parties to come together to "save democracy".

Earlier in November, called on to discuss Telugu Desam Party(TDP)-alliance against (BJP) ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Citing "democratic compulsions", said parties including those having differences with need to come together to fight elections in 2019.

"Today there is a democratic compulsion which overcomes political compulsions. That's why we're joining (alliance), even those who at some stage had differences with Congress, we've to come together to fight the elections to save and democracy," the told reporters here.

Naidu has been meeting leaders of non-BJP parties and its allies in view of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, he had also met former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah, and supremo Mayawati.

The Chief Minister has been extremely vocal and straight-forward about his critical opinions against the Centre. He had earlier said that the country needs a national-level alliance to counter Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming elections.
