Nepal government has ordered mountaineers climbing Mount Everest to bring back at least 8kg each of litter on their way back.
According to officials, the new rules that will come into effect in spring follows widespread concern over rubbish on and around the world's highest mountain and will be applicable to those who climb above the Everest base camp at 5,300m, the BBC reported.
The government has already made it compulsory for the climbers to return all their rubbish, which otherwise would risk them losing 4,000 dollars deposit.
Madhusudan Burlakoti said that once the climbers submit the rubbish to officials of the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee on their return to the Everest base camp, they will get a receipt.
