Expressing concern over India's non-tariff barriers affecting Pakistan's exports, Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit on Wednesday urged New Delhi to revisit its position to improve Indo-Pak trade.
"Economic ties bound to hit snags perennially in unpredictable political environment, hope India revisit its position.... Need level playing field for Indo-Pak trade, India's non-tariff barriers adversely affecting Pak exports to India," Basit said while addressing the Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) at New Delhi.
He also said that there was huge potential between the two countries.
The Pakistan High Commissioner was invited by the organisation to speak on the challenges facing Pakistan-India relations.
Earlier, Director General and CEO of FIEO, Ajay Sahai, welcoming the High Commissioner stressed that there were enormous economic opportunities between India and Pakistan, adding that the two countries must work together in the interest of their respective peoples.
He also assured the High Commissioner that his organisation would continue playing its role in this regard.
