Pak envoy meets ailing Geelani

Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Monday met All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who has been admitted to a hospital in the national capital after suffering a heart attack.

Basit, who met Geelani on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif, conveyed wishes and prayers on behalf of Prime Minister and people of Pakistan.

A Quran Khawani was also held at the Pakistan High Commission today with special prayers for the health and speedy recovery of Geelani.

"We pray for his quick recovery and good health," Sharif had yesterday tweeted.

Geelani complained of chest pain yesterday morning, following which he was immediately moved to nearby Max Hospital in Delhi, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), said a Hurriyat release, adding the doctors conducted several medical examinations, including ECG, and administered oxygen to him.

 

Later, the doctors declared Geelani stable.
