Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly all set to regain the rights to songs that he wrote for the band over 40 years ago.

The 71-year-old singer was outbid by Michael Jackson, who bought the Associated Television Corporation (ATV)'s back catalogue for 47.5million dollars, which includes The Beatles' tracks, in 1985.

The former Beatle has been paying royalties every time he wants to perform some of his own tracks.

But according to The Sun, the 1976 US Copyright Act means McCartney will now be able the claim back the titles back, the Daily Express reported.

The musician had publicly complained about the fact that he had to pay every time, to perform tracks that were written by him and former bandmate John Lennon.
