Pope Francis has reportedly asked for forgiveness for the evil acts committed by pedophile priests.
He said that he felt compelled to personally take on the evil which some priests had committed against children, the BBC reported.
The Pope said that the abuse was a moral damage carried out by men of the Church and that sanctions would be imposed.
He said that the number of priests who committed such evil acts were quite a few in number, although obviously not compared to the number of all the priests.
Meanwhile, the statement that was reportedly made during a meeting with a child rights group is being described as his strongest on the issue so far, the report added.
